TWO Teething Children and PEARS

This morning I was begging Dan to take Owen to work with him. Ok not really, but if it had been an option I would have been all over it! Owen was acting like a bi-polar toddler. Happy one minute and crazy melt-downs the next. I finally took him to the park (being outside is where he finds his happy place). When it came time to leave he refused to come, and since I was holding Savannah and the diaper bag and the blanket I refused to try to drag a screaming toddler all at the same time. So I left him. Sort of. I walked all the way to the car and buckled Savannah and I could see he was watching me every 10 seconds or so to make sure I was still there. When I got in the car and started pulling away he came RUNNING and was slightly traumatized that his mother was going to leave him at the park. (I promise I wouldn't really have left him, but I did consider it!) I'm a bad mom, but hopefully the lesson was learned.

At lunch he told me he had an "owie in his mouth" but of course wouldn't let me look. When I finally coaxed his mouth open I saw the problem to all of my woes. Molars! He's only 7 months behind getting these in, but his gums look like they've been run over by a lawn mower. Poor kid! And since Savannah's next 2 teeth are super close to popping through, I am currently dealing with 2 teething children. I deserve an award. Or a vacation. Is it time for Dan to come home yet?

This has nothing to do with teething, but a couple of months ago I wanted to recreate this picture of me with Savannah to show how much she looks like her mom.  Except that she is the spitting image of Dan's sister Sara. Ha! (But I get to take credit for her nose!)

Our pear tree is definitely what I would call an over-achiever. I have pears coming out my ears and that's after giving them away to everyone I know (and don't know!)  So I canned a few batches of pear sauce (it is SO good!) and still had so.many.pears. So what do you do when you have too many pears? You make pear pie! I've never heard of pear pie, let alone had one, but it was amazing and husband couldn't believe I had the audacity to give some of it away (pies are his thing).

Don't be too impressed. I didn't make the crust. And I forgot to take a picture
after it came out of the oven. Whoops.

Summer Randoms

Dan's sister came over to hang out tonight and they started talking politics (yawn). Which means Dan is distracted so I can FINALLY update the blog. Boy am I behind. Life has been crazy. Rather than one post with 5 million pictures, here are a few posts you can peruse at your leisure. And nothing is in order, so don't worry if you think Savannah looks big in one picture and smaller in another picture.

Savannah is currently 8 months, has 2 teeth and does the worm to get where she needs to go. She's still so small and is just starting to grow out of her 3 month sized clothes (hooray!) One of her eyes is a pinwheel coloring of brown/blue and I LOVE it and hope it stays for good. She's still bald as can be, but if she had hair she'd be perfect so I tell her she just can't have it all.

Owen is one of the happiest 2-year-olds around. Except when he's not happy (which is usually when I'm trying to get him to eat just.one.bite. of dinner). But really, I've had several people at church ask me if he's ever grouchy.  Moana is the only movie he's watched all the way through (he's very particular about his shows), and he's watched it so many times he can quote the lines and sing all the songs. Apparently his dad's Hawaii blood runs through him.

Hanging out in the backyard. I love Owen's pink cheeks.

Otterpops with Auntie Sara and Amberly

Owen discovered that eating the sand in his new sandbox is a BAD idea.

Our cherry tree is HUGE. And we had so.many.cherries.
They were delicious. Until I discovered worms in ALL of them.

Owen feeding Savannah.

Love this iconic drinking fountain at the zoo.

Playing at the zoo with cousins!

If you haven't seen the bird show at the zoo, it's AMAZING.
Owen talked about it for days. And yes, Savannah is
wearing leopard print.

Love him.

A day spent at Temple Square.

Playing with cousins!

He LOVES sesame street. And so does Savannah.

Another picture of Owen wet and dirty in his diaper. I should
have learned to carry around a swimsuit everywhere we went.

Sleeping babies are SO cute!

THREE Reunions

This has been the summer of reunions! It's a good thing we love our families. ;)

Ditto #1- we spent a long weekend with Dan's family up at their cabin. It's beautiful up there and I love how quiet and peaceful it is!

I love Owen's face in this picture. He loves his Nana and Papa!

These 2 are finally getting old enough to play together and it's so fun!

Spjute Reunion - Mel found an amazing house to rent at Bear Lake and it was SO great! We needed a couple more days together. Owen was in heaven with lots of boy cousins around and spent hours playing on the playground in the back yard. (Remember how we bought a used playground and it's STILL sitting in pieces in our back  yard? Now that we're finally done with all our reunions we'll hopefully get it setup soon.) Spjute's are really good at eating.so.much.food. I have a sweet tooth more than almost anyone I know, and even I needed a break from sugar by the time we got back. In my opinion, that's the sign of a good reunion!

Don't worry, my sun roof exploded on the way to Bear Lake. We seriously have the worst luck with cars. We were driving in Brigham City and all of a sudden we see a giant rock flying towards us. No idea where it came from, but it landed right on top of my sun roof and completely shattered it. Just so you know, replacing your sun roof is really expensive.
Blast you, giant rock!

The bunk beds had railings and a removable ladder, which meant that Owen couldn't get out of his bed. Hoorah!

I have so many pictures of Savannah sleeping. Oops.

Megan and Kate are the best!

This is what happens when you go to bed at 11 and wake up before 6. Meltdown in the car!

My hiking buddy. Except the hike was a 45 second walk. :)

That's snow. In August. In a cool ice/snow cave thing.

Tragically this is the only picture I got of baby Henry. Less than 2 weeks old.
Mel is a true champ for coming and I love Henry!

Owen discovered the joy of toy guns. Now he turns everything that even
slightly resembles a gun into a gun.

All the cousins with their glow sticks.

A day at the beach!

Owen's first wave runner ride, thanks to uncle Randy!

Ditto Reunion #2 - 5 days after the Spjute reunion we braved the 7 hour drive up to Helena for the Ditto extended family reunion.

Dan keeping his team's balloon in the air.

Owen discovered the awesomeness of a balance bike.

My early morning buddy for a walk by the lake.

Love these cute cousins!

I'm pretty sure she was giggling at a dog. She LOVES dogs. Too bad she'll
never get to have one. I'm such a mean mom.

Owen grabbed this rope and immediately started singing Moana

"You will board my boat, sail across the sea . . . "

Savannah has started making this hilarious face. Scrunchy nose!
